Improving services for visa applicants

The situation

Visa4UK is a web site that provides an online visa application process and information for people who wish to apply for visas to visit the UK. The system, which has been in place for many years, was starting to struggle with the greatly increased number of applications. The system‘s hardware needed to be upgraded to ensure that it would cope with the additional workload, but it was critical that service was maintained while the upgrade was built and implemented.

The solution

The new secure system was built using the latest network and server technologies. These included new Firewalls, load balancers and more powerful servers. Built within budget and timescale, the system was penetration tested, load tested and online within 6 weeks.

The impact

Visa4UK Customers experienced no interruption to their services during the change to the new more efficient system.  For our client we have provided a system with plenty of capacity for the foreseeable future with no intervening interruption to either their migration services or revenue streams from application fees.
